This blog assignment is due before Thursday, January 22nd.
1. Compare and Contrast a mineral fragment that has one cleavage direction with one that has only fracture.
2. Explain how an unglazed porcelain tile can be use to help identify a mineral.
3. Explain why streak is often more useful than color for identifying a mineral.
4. Determine what hardness a mineral has if it does not scratch glass, but scratches an iron nail.
5. What does the presence of cleavage planes in a mineral tell you about the chemical bonds that hold a mineral together.
