Copper-to-Gold Penny Lab

In the laboratory completed in class, you created an alloy called brass. Research alloys on the internet, and then answer the following questions:

1. There is an alloy called "Nitinol", which is very unique. Describe why this alloy is unique.

2. Find a video online that demonstrates "Nitinol" being used. List the url (http://) address of the video.

3. Stainless steel is a very common alloy, containing iron and chromium, as well as carbon. Stainless steel can be classified into one of four different categories; Martensitic, Ferritic, Austenitic, or Duplex. Which category would a stainless steel be if it had 12% chromium? How do you know?

4. What alloy is a combination of COPPER and TIN?

5. What are the names of TWO other commo used alloys, and what are their uses?

Research Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), then answer the following questions:
